Black History Month Kickoff
The most important month on the BCC calendar is February as it begins Black History Month. Last year the BCC sponsored and co-sponsored at least one program each day with multiple programs on many of the days in February. The BHM Kickoff is the first day of celebration which includes food, music, history and the review of our entire month’s calendar. Last year’s celebration included our Black Girl Magic art exhibit and a field trip where nearly 250 students were bused to the premiere of the movie Black Panther. The month also includes several discussions on topics critical to our students and even community service initiatives with our student organizations. Every month of the year is a testament to the history and legacy of Blacks at Vanderbilt but Black History Month belongs to the BCC and the university community that so graciously and generously supports and co-sponsors this month of programs. Make a goal now to attend at least 15 Black History Month programs in February of 2019!
