“It will be amazing to see the great things that Bass Scholars will do in the future and how we can give back to the Vanderbilt and Nashville community.”
Tell us about your military service. What did you do? Where did you serve? What do you value the most about your military service?
Army Aviation Officer. I served at Fort Campbell and Fort Hood. Over the course of my career, I also deployed twice to Afghanistan and once to Puerto Rico. I value the comradery that you are able to create as a leader both directly and indirectly through leading Soldiers.
What are your thoughts on mentoring other students while at Vanderbilt? As a role model, what values do you want to share?
Absolutely welcome the opportunity to speak with other students. I’d like to share how effectively trust can be built by leading with dignity and respect. On the same thought, I’d share how being empathetic with your employees will help them lead more effectively when things have to get done.
While at Vanderbilt, what will be the focus of your studies and how do you plan to use this knowledge in your future career?
General Management or Marketing. I’ve always been intrigued with Marketing so a career in Brand Management of Product Management is a path that excites me. Most recently, I have become very interested in learning more about commercial real estate so I hope to explore that path more as well.
What would you tell other veterans about the Bass Military Scholars Program?
How it is a fantastic opportunity to become part of another small community with Owen and the excitement I have to see the program continue to grow. It will be amazing to see the great things that Bass Scholars will do in the future and how we can give back to the Vandy/Nashville community.
