InclusAbility’s “Autism 101” event coming up on Feb. 25

If you’d like to learn more about the autism spectrum, mark your calendar for February 25th. On Tuesday the 25th at 1 p.m., Vanderbilt’s InclusAbility campaign is hosting an event called “Autism 101.”

The first part of the presentation, given by Autism Tennessee, will cover the diagnosis and most common characteristics of autism. There will also be a discussion about the myths and stereotypes surrounding autism.

At the conclusion of Autism Tennessee’s portion, the Frist Center for Autism and Innovation will lead a conversation about autism as an asset in the workplace. The Center will focus on how a strengths-based approach to the condition can empower autistic adults to succeed in employment settings.

“Autism 101” will take place in Alumni Hall 206 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tues., 2/25 and will include free snack food. InclusAbility is an initiative sponsored by Vanderbilt University’s Office for Inclusive Excellence. The next InclusAbility event be on Tues., 3/10 at 1 p.m. and will also feature Autism Tennessee and the Frist Center.
