Studio VU: Amy Cutler

November 6 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

On November 6, 2019, the Studio VU Lecture Series and the Department of Art at Vanderbilt University welcomes Amy Cutler.

Cutler will present an overview of her studio work over that last 20 years discussing how her work has developed. Anecdotes and source materials will highlight how her ideas are generated in the sphere of specific projects and works. she will also discuss how her work became primarily works on paper.

Amy Cutler was boin in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1974, and is internationally known for exquisitely detailed narrative works of art created through a pastiche of personal memories, political observations, and cultural insights. Inhabited mostly by female figures who perform enigmatic tasks and engage in impossible situations, her works expose the emotional complexities of real life within a richly imagined universe.
