Rodrigo Perez

My name is Rodrigo Perez and I am a cadet at Vanderbilt University, an MBA student at Lipscomb University, and I am also an Active Duty Soldier in the U.S. Army. I enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2009 and became an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I applied and was accepted to the Green to Gold Active Duty Option Program. The Green to Gold Active Duty Option Program allows me to complete my graduate degree and remain an Active Duty enlisted Soldier. Going from Active Duty to ROTC Cadet took some adjustment, before coming to Go Gold Battalion I was an EOD Platoon Sergeant in charge of three EOD teams and nine EOD Soldiers. As a Platoon Sergeant, I planned, supervised, and executed training for the Soldiers in my Platoon. When I arrived at Go Gold Battalion, I had to learn how to become a Cadet and student by allowing my fellow Cadets to teach me. Other than becoming a Commissioned Officer, my goal during ROTC is to teach and mentor fellow cadets by sharing my experience and knowledge.
