Vandy Voices

Vanderbilt alumni have amazing stories to share, and we want to hear yours. In partnership with Publishing Concepts Inc., we are launching a comprehensive oral history project called Vandy Voices. At the end of this project, these stories will be preserved in a commemorative print and digital book that celebrates the impact Vandy has had on your lives and who you are today.

Thinking about participating : Before you make the call, think about what you want to tell/share. Here are some helpful topics, though stories of all types are welcome:

  • Have connections you made on campus turned into lifelong friendships?
  • Can you trace your career path back to a defining moment on our campus?
  • Did a faculty or staff member have a profound impact on your life?

Here’s how it works:

  1. You should have received a postcard/email asking you to call and update your information.
  2. Once you call, a member of the PCI team will ask you a series of questions:
    • Review and update your current contact information
    • Capture your Vanderbilt stories/memories.
      1. All of this information is shared with Vanderbilt University so we can update our files.
  3. Your stories are then transcribed and packaged into a beautiful hard-bound book for you to keep and share with your family and friends, if you wish to purchase.
    • There is no obligation to make a purchase in order for your stories to be heard, and all stories will be included in the digital version.

We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce an oral history publication called Vandy Voices for Vanderbilt University. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas, Texas, that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation for more than 100 years.

This project allows us to hear about your personal experiences from your time at Vanderbilt University and how the school has helped to shape your life since then. And, while we have you on the phone, we want to make sure your contact information is up to date.
