Overview of Visitors in Other Visa Categories
F-1 & J-1 Visitors:
Persons in F-1 status must have an EAD (employment authorized document) to receive an honorarium. Persons in J-1 status must receive permission from their sponsoring institution’s DSO or RO in order to receive an honorarium. Both the F-1 and J-1 can receive reimbursement of travel and incidental expenses.
O, P and TN-1:
Visitors who hold an O, P, or TN-1 visa may receive honoraria, and are also allowed to receive reimbursements for travel and incidental expenses related to the business activity.
H-1B, A and G:
Visitors who hold an H-1B, A or G visa may not receive honoraria. They are, however, allowed to receive reimbursements for travel and incidental expenses related to the activity.
