Tara McKay publishes article on the impact of Covid on African countries

Assistant Professor Dr. Tara McKay of the Department of Medicine, Health, and Society published “The Missing Millions: Uncovering the Burden of Covid-19 Cases and Deaths in the African Region” this week in Population and Development Review. McKay and her colleagues at Vanderbilt and American University evaluated current data and research in order to gain a better understanding of the burden Covid-19 placed upon African countries through infection and deathrates. Despite the seeming lack of infection in the African region at the end of 2021, this research finds that there is significant evidence that people in African countries did experience Covid levels at or about what was seen in other global regions.
