Research Interests:

Currently, I am an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Before attending Vanderbilt University, I received my high school education at Portland High School in Portland, Tennessee. In the Zwiebel Lab, I am principally interested in the electrophysiological properties of different olfactory receptor proteins found in Anopheles gambiae. I investigate the properties of these proteins by using a heterologous system—specifically, I use a two-electrode voltage clamp on Xenopus laevis oocytes that have been microinjected with RNA. In the future, I am planning to investigate other electrophysiological techniques such as electroantennograms and single sensillum recordings to understand the role of these olfactory proteins in vivo.
