Taking a Stand: Argumentation and College Writing

This workshop will help participants improve upon their academic writing, develop better thesis statements, and write persuasively at the college level.
Visual Presentations: Using, Not Abusing Powerpoints

Whether you use PowerPoint all the time, or whether it terrifies you, this workshop will enhance your ability to present information orally and visually.
Writing for HART
Thursday, February 11

Led by Sarah Hoff and Katie Golden
With the input of HART faculty, Writing Studio consultants and HART majors have developed this workshop for students in any HART class. This workshop will focus on improving test-taking, visual analysis, and interpretation.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn techniques for better organizing their papers, ordering their writing in a logical manner, and presenting their points in the most effective way.
Participants should bring a piece of writing to work on.
Writing Philosophy Papers
Thursday, March 25th

Led by Jenny Sauer and Matt Smith
In this workshop, Senior Philosophy majors will aid participants through the finer points of writing for Philosophy classes. The workshop will emphasize writing effective arguments in the discipline.
Crevision! (Creative Writing + Revision. Get it?)

Led by Matt Baker and Destiny Birdsong
This workshop will help creative writers as well as writers crafting personal statements take their work to the next level. Our consultants will facilitate revision activities as participants work to improve their creative writing projects.
Participants should bring a piece of creative writing (or a personal statement) to work on.
