On Writing: The First Book
Monday, February 6
4:15pm, 117 Alumni Hall

Finding a publisher, negotiating the review process, and completing a manuscript under deadline can all make writing one's first book a daunting task. Our three guests, all of whom have risen to meet these challenges, will discuss their experiences preparing their first books for publication. Shaul Kelner's Tours That Bind: Diaspora, Pilgrimage and Israeli Birthright Tourism was published by NYU Press in 2010. Allison Schachter's Diasporic Modernisms: Hebrew and Yiddish in the Twentieth Century was published by Oxford University Press in 2011. Catherine Molineux's Faces of Perfect Ebony: Encountering Atlantic Slavery in Imperial Britain was published by Harvard University Press in 2012.

*ON WRITING is free and open to the public. We especially welcome to this event graduate students and junior faculty who are or who will soon be in the process of writing their own first books.
