You write and write for their courses. Ever wonder what your professors write about, or what their writing processes are like?

Join Paul Kramer, Associate Professor of History, for dinner and a discussion of his writing process and his work. Professor Kramer's first book The Blood of Government: Race, Empire, the United States and the Philippines has won several prizes for history writing, and was a finalist for the Philippines' National Book Award in social science. In addition to his academic writing, Professor Kramer's interest in narrative writing has led to publications in popular outlets including Slate and The New Yorker. The event is hosted by Frank Wcislo and Jane Wcislo.
Twelve student spots are available for this event.

Join Jonathan Metzl, Director of Vanderbilt’s Center for Medicine, Health and Society and Professor of Sociology, for dinner and a discussion of his writing process and his work. Professor Metzl's writing on identity and mental illness, including his books Protest Psychosis and Prozac on the Couch, has drawn attention from the academic world as well as the medical establishment and the popular press. Come talk with Professor Metzl about how he balances commitments to scientific and humanistic inquiry in his writing.
