COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE
GRADUATE WRITING FELLOW
Writing Studio
2013-2014
Each year the Writing Studio hires one advanced graduate student in the College of Arts and Science to serve as a Graduate Writing Fellow. The Fellow not only holds 15 hours of one-to-one appointments with graduate and undergraduate students per week, but also organizes the writing workshop program, the undergraduate writing symposium, and various other educational programs. Because the Fellow position is funded by the College of Arts and Science and because the Writing Studio values writing from across the disciplines, graduate students from any department in the College of Arts and Science are encouraged to apply.
The fellow will receive a stipend commensurate with stipends in his or her home department, along with health insurance and $200 per semester minimum tuition.
Interested candidates must provide:
(1) a statement from a departmental Director of Graduate Studies verifying availability for employment in the Writing Studio,
(2) a letter of recommendation from an adviser or other faculty member,
(3) a curriculum vitae,
(4) a letter demonstrating specific interest in and dedication to the teaching and coaching of writing, as well as
(5) a writing sample of no more than 20 pages.
Applications can be submitted by hand to the Writing Studio (Calhoun Hall 007) or via e-mail at writing.studio@vanderbilt.edu. Applicants who wish to be considered for both the Writing Fellow and Graduate Writing Consultant positions should indicate as much in their letters. If submitting applications via email please combine all required documents into one PDF or Word file.
Submission Deadline: Friday, March 1
