Back  Overview of Uyu Uyu  Next...
An overview of the site of Uyu Uyu (foreground), which lies on the north side of the Colca river within the community of Yanque. Much like San Antonio (previous slide), this site has evidence for Middle Horizon through Late Horizon and early colonial occupations, including an Inka administrative center and early Spanish colonial chapel. Also as in San Antonio, the population of this village was most likely "reduced" around 1570, but in this case, probably to the village of Yanque.
