About Us
The Wellness Resource Center is dedicated to helping members of the Vaderbilt community develop and increase their awareness of every aspect of wellness. Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence. Wellness is a holistic concept involving physical, spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, and environmental dimensions. The Wellness Resource Center is a hub for educational resources, advocacy, and programs about hundreds of wellness-related topics.
The Wellness Resource Center is located in the Student Recreation Center.
- Hours are 12:00 noon - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- We are closed on Saturday, and open from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sundays.
- During the summer we are open 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Fridays.
We follow the Wellness model as depicted in the Wellness Wheel, focusing our efforts to providing programs and resources on every aspect of wellness.
Meet the Staff
Becky Spires, M.Ed., Assistant Director of Wellness Programs
As the Assistant Director of Wellness Programs, Becky coordinates the Wellness Resource Center and Fitness programming, facilitates conversations in the Vanderbilt community about health and wellness, and works with other offices on campus to bring countless awareness activities and programs to Vanderbilt.
She originally hails form Ohio, wehre she completed her undergrate work at The Ohio State University before coming to Nashville. Her graduate degree is from Vanderbilt Univeristy in Health Promotion.
Her favorite thing about wellness is that it is so diverse that it makes her job great fun. One of her favorite quotes is, "the universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow stronger."
