It is a black box theatre located on Alumni Lawn at the center of main campus that seats approximately 300 in its maximum seating configuration. The actual seating capacity of a particular show, however varies from 200-300. Neely has been a theatre since 1976, when it was transformed from a chapel into its current state.

In addition to being the home of VUT, Neely also houses most of the classes taught in the Department of Theatre. Most classes are taught in the main space, although some take place in the design room on the second floor, which also houses the offices of the faculty.

In addition to the performance space and the offices, Neely has a full-featured shop and costume shop. It also has a an overhead suspension grid for hanging lights. The light and sound control systems are both state of the art electronic systems that are operated by students during performances.
