Series: Race for the Presidency

Presenter: Vanderbilt Professor, Dr. Carol Swain

Purpose: This lesson plan focuses on the role media plays in informing the public about political candidates and elections. Through this lesson, students will understand how candidates and news programs use different media forms, including newspapers, television and political advertisements, to convey messages about candidates and elections. Teachers should assign the included pre-activities and post-activities as well as be active participants in the videoconference with Vanderbilt Professor, Dr. Carol Swain.
