A chronicle of the vocal arts, this videoconference showcases a fascinating portrayal of the lives and musical contributions of African-American women. This videoconference will examine and intertwine two modes of expression----music and life stories of these extraordinary women. The videoconference study mayinclude a discussion of Marian Anderson, Mahalia Jackson, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, and Queen Latifah.
