SANTIAGO, CHILE : Pontificia Catholic University of Chile – March 2008
VU delegation: Richard McCarty, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Tom Dillehay, Chair of Anthropology; Joel Harrington, Associate Provost For Global Strategy; and Melissa Smith, Program Coordinator, VIO.
Purpose: to discuss a research-based institutional partnership and the opportunity to forge a core university partnership between the two institutions.
SHANGHAI, CHINA : Fudan University – December 2007
VU delegation: Camilla Benbow, Dean of Peabody College of Education and Human Development; Joel Harrington, Associate Provost for Global Strategy; Xiu Cravens, Assistant Dean for International Relations; Thomas R. Harris, Chair of Biomedical Engineering; and Alene Harris, Research Assistant Professor of Education, visited Fudan University in Shanghai, China
Purpose: to develop partnerships with Vanderbilt’s School of Education and School of Engineering.

Purpose: to identify potential institutional partners for research collaboration and faculty/student exchange with VU’s School of Engineering. The delegation visited the following institutions:
- Mumbai: IIT-Bombay; UniDEL Corporation; US Consulate
- Chennai: IIT-Madras; US Consulate
- Bangalore: IISc; Infosys Corporation; Int’l Center for Management and India Studies (ICMIS)
AUSTRALIA (Melbourne, Sydney)/ SINGAPORE – November 2007
VU delegation: Shelley McFarlan, Program Coordinator, VIO; Thomas R. Harris, Chair of Biomedical Engineering; Alene Harris, Research Assistant Professor of Engineering Education.
Purpose: to identify potential institutional partners for research collaboration and faculty/student exchange (including University of New South Wales, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University) with VU’s School of Engineering; and to solidify VU’s VISAGE program in Melbourne.
