- The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship Program is offering funding for graduate students at the dissertation stage for 2012-2013. Because the applications have to be submitted in one packet by Vanderbilt University, the deadline for online submission is NOON on Tuesday, JUNE 12. Click here for details on how to prepare and submit a proposal. Applications must be submitted electronically at http://www.g5.gov. - The Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) grant proposal deadline is May 15, 2012. PIRE is an NSF-wide program that supports international activities across all NSF supported disciplines. The primary goal of PIRE is to support high quality projects in which advances in research and education could not occur without international collaboration. PIRE seeks to catalyze a higher level of international engagement in the U.S. science and engineering community.
- María Elisa Velázquez, professor of history at Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico, delivered the Robert Penn Warren Center for the Humanities' 2012 Black Atlantic Lecture, February 2, 2012.
