Professor Clare McCabe (Chemical Engineering) is using molecular modeling techniques to study hybrid organic and inorganic nanostructured materials, with particular emphasis on elucidating structure-property relations. She also has interest in using simulation to study the self-assembly of nanoscale building blocks.

“Molecular modeling is a particularly useful tool for studying nanoscale systems and their self-assembly as experimental investigation on such systems is frequently difficult, and sometimes impossible, due to the length and time scales involved.,” McCabe said. "Computer modeling and simulation are proving to be attractive and valuable means with which to fill in the gaps in experimental literature and obtain important information."
