Professor Kalman Varga (Physics) is modeling electronic, magnetic, and transport properties of nanostructures. His aim is to bridge different time scales, from electron dynamics to diffusion of atoms, and different length scales, from nanostructures to the macro-scale. He and his associates expect that their work will result in specific applications such as modeling of quantum wire and quantum dot growth, current voltage characteristics of molecular electronic devices, time-dependent simulation of electron dynamics, and the study of the effect of electron correlations.
