Abstract. Electronics and photonics are two technologies that enable the current communication explosion. The drive to ever "smaller-faster-cheaper" hardware is pervasive and continues to pose severe challenges to materials science. We will present examples from current work at Bell Labs to highlight the impressive contributions of new materials and processes to communication technology. |
