Dr. Nicholas Giordano Department of Physics Purdue University "Transport Properties of 1D Ferromagnetic Wires" Abstract. The effect of magnetism on the electrical properties of various types of nanostructures has gotten much attention in the past several years. In this talk I describe some experimental studies of very narrow (20-50 nm diameter) ferromagnetic wires, and discuss how ordinary ("unpolarized") transport can be used to address problems relating to magnetism. These problems include the pinning and motion of domain walls, and the resistance of individual domain walls. |
