Microfabrication Core
The VIIBRE Microfabrication Core offers facilities and expertise for the design, manufacture, and implementation of micro- and small-scale electronic, mechanical and fluidic devices.
Typical products include fluidic networks, pumps and valves, arrays of microfabricated traps for cellular study, implantable devices for in vivo imaging, liquid and gas control systems, biological habitats, environments and microbioreactors, and more.
| Microfabrication Core Policies |
Access to core resources is granted only after required training is completed
Users are required to register any new chemicals with VEHS and the VIIBRE lab manager
Users are required to reserve all time spent using any core device
Users shall limit device use to a single project at any given time
Reservations may be cancelled up until their start time without being charged. After this time, your center will be charged for the full reservation

Our products are fully customizable, and consultants are available to discuss your specific needs and produce devices and instruments. For more information, please contact the VMC manager at [vmcmanager@vanderbilt.edu].
Our key laboratories include a Photolithography Cleanroom, a Device Fabrication Cleanroom, a Machine Shop and an Electronics Shop.
Staff resources are available for conceptual, technical and design consultation, CAD drafting and modeling, prototyping and fabrication, mask layout, and equipment, facility and safety training.
C.O.R.E.S. Account Setup Instructions
As an active VIIBRE associate, you are required to use the CORES booking system to reserve time in the Photolithography (SC6814) and Softlithography (SC6824) labs. To reserve time in the VIIBRE microfabrication labs, first request access as an authorized user of the CORES system using the form available at http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/root/vumc.php?site=CFUIS&doc=13512 . Account authorization may take a few days so plan ahead.
Once you have received notification from the Office of Research that you have a CORES account, or if you are already using the CORES system, please send an email to the VIIBRE Mirofabrication Core Manager [vmcmanager@vanderbilt.edu] for final account approval. You'll then receive notification that you're ready to go, along with instructions on how to use the new booking system.
