Vanderbilt
is home to the oldest private engineering school in the South, combining
stellar academics with energizing innovation. All engineering faculty
members teach undergraduates, and many students are included in
faculty research projects. Enrollment is kept to approximately 1,200
highly qualified undergraduates and 350 graduate students.
The School
of Engineering's phenomenal proliferation of research projects in
recent years has excited and attracted new faculty from other top
research programs, strengthening and expanding the School's skills,
programs, talents and opportunities.
What's new: In
response to our national reputation and commitment to remain in
the forefront of engineering, we have recently completed a $28
million, state-of-the-art facility that incorporates leading technologies
in a student-centered environment. Featheringill Hall features a
three-story atrium designed to be a focal point for student interaction
and social events, as well as more than 50 teaching and research
laboratories.

Mechanical Engineering department.
