The Blair School
of Music serves as the focal point at Vanderbilt for the study of
music as a human endeavor and as a performing art. Students can
pursue studies in performance, composition/theory, musical arts,
and musical arts/teacher education.
Blair is home
to internationally known soloists and ensembles, and Blair's faculty
of performers, composers and musicologists are among the most respected
in their fields. The faculty is committed to its goal of developing
students who are among the most articulate, culturally aware, and
artistically sensitive of any graduates in the country.
The
Martha Rivers Ingram Center for the Performing Arts, right,
a 620-seat performance hall, was designed
with raked seating and no central aisle to allow unrestricted views
from every level. Two rehearsal halls are available and both have
recording capabilities.
