What We Do

The VBA serves four distinct roles at Vanderbilt Law.  First, it allocates funds to student organizations.  In this capacity, the VBA gathers budget requests at the beginning of the school year and allocates funds based on those requests.  Also, the VBA hears supplemental requests throughout the year for student organizations requesting additional funding and for organizations formed after the budget deadline.  You can find out more about our budgetary role on the "Student Organizations" page.

Second, the VBA serves as an advocate for the students and Vanderbilt Law.   In this capacity, the VBA seeks out opinions on how student life can be improved and acts on such feedback on behalf of the students.  You can learn more about this function at the "Student Advocacy" portion of this site.

Third, the VBA works to mobilize students to give back to the Nashville community.  In serving this function, the VBA, in conjunction with other student organizations, coordinates, promotes, and plans community service projects for Vanderbilt Law students.  You can find out more about our work in this endeavor in the "Community Service" section of this site.

Finally, the VBA organizes and supports social activities for Vanderbilt Law students.  From planning the annual Barrister's Ball to hosting football tailgates during the fall, the VBA takes an active role in increasing opportunities for students to congregate and have fun outside of school.  To find out more about our work in this area, check out the "Social Activities" page.
