Doshi Levien. I met a designer in London who co-founded a company with her husband that produces some of the most fascinating and unique work I’ve ever seen. Nipa Doshi, co-founder of Doshi Levien, states that “Globalization is generally viewed as a destroyer of local culture. We like to view globalization as a way to enhance diversity and disrupt homogeneity; as an equal exchange between cultures, now that we have access to other parts of the world like never before.” It is amazing how well this fits with the premise of my own compositional project for this year, and my lifelong goal of bridging cross-cultural ideas through artistic media.
