We encourage everyone to consider using alternative means of transportation. The options below can get you where you're going, while saving fuel and money and the hassle of finding parking.

• Vanpool/Carpool

All full-time Vanderbilt employees are eligible to participate in the Vanpool/Carpool Ride Matching program. This program matches people from similar general locations who wish to share a ride to Vanderbilt.

Who can join? All Vanderbilt employees and students who have Vanderbilt.edu email addresses may apply for this program.

Other Carpool Matching Services: If you are interested in joining a carpool that is not limited to the Vanderbilt community, there are many other carpool matching services available online. Simply conduct a Google search entitled “carpool match”.


• MTA/VU Free Ride to Work Program
  All full-time Vanderbilt employees, graduate students and VMC volunteers are eligible to ride free to and from work on an MTA bus. Simply swipe your I.D. card upon boarding the bus. The I.D. can be used "only" for rides to and from work. Contractors, ex-employees and former graduate students are not eligible. • RTA Gallatin/Hendersonville (92X) and Murfreesboro /Smyrna (96X) RTA Express
  Discounted TICKETS for the RTA bus services are available to all full-time Vanderbilt employees, graduate, professional and medical students and VMC volunteers. Bus route and schedule information is available at RTA. Discounted tickets are available at Wesley Place garage, Medical Center North, Children's Hospital and East garage. Free Parking is available at Lot 127 on days you must drive to work. Shuttle information is available at Chestnut Shuttle.



• Clarksville / Vanderbilt (Midtown) Express
  Discounted tickets for the CLARKSVILLE / VANDERBILT (MIDTOWN) EXPRESS service are available to all full-time Vanderbilt employees, graduate, professional and medical students and VMC volunteers. Bus route and schedule information is available at Express Bus. Discounted tickets are available at Wesley Place garage, Medical Center North, Children's Hospital and East garage. • Music City Star
  RTA Commuter rail service provides up to a 60% discount to all full-time Vanderbilt University and Medical Center employees. Rail stops include Lebanon, Martha, Mount Juliet, Hermitage, and Donelson. A free shuttle bus service between the Nashville Riverfront Terminal and the Vanderbilt Campus coincides with train arrivals and departures. Discount tickets are available at Wesley Place garage, Medical Center North, Children's Hospital and East garage. Free Parking is available at Lot 127 on days you must drive to work.
