The Rev. Amy L. Allen is a third year fellow in New Testament and Early Christianity. She is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, wife, and mother of two. Active in her local congregation in the areas of nurture and faith formation, she is a certified catechist for level one instruction in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (a Montessori based preschool religious education program). Her research interests include discipleship, family and community ethics in Scripture, and the representation of children in Luke-Acts. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Lutheran University. While at Texas Lutheran, she spent a semester abroad in Namibia through the Center for Global Education, working with a Women’s and Children’s Empowerment group for those living in the informal settlements.
