Jennifer Freeman is a PhD candidate focusing on the relationship between visual art and theology in the early Middle Ages. Her dissertation, "Erasing God: Carolingians, Controversy, and the Ashburnham Pentateuch," will take the ninth-century modifications of the Trinity in the Creation page of the Ashburnham Pentateuch as a case study for understanding Carolingian theology of the image and reactions to theological controversy.  Her research interests include iconoclasm, Christological controversies, gender studies, and early medieval manuscripts.
