Metro Public Works’ Recycling Programs

The Metro Public Works Division of Waste Management in Nashville and Davidson Country encourages residents and businesses to reduce waste. Curbside recycling collection is provided to single-family homes in the Urban Services District of Nashville and is collected once a month. Residents must place recyclables in their green roll-out cart. Residents and businesses located outside of the Urban Services District, may use any of the Metro Public Works recycling drop-off and convenience centers located through Davidson County.

Metro Public Works’ Backyard Composting Bins and Classes

Metro Beautification and Public Works encourages backyard composting and has compost bins and supplies available at the Omohundro Convenience Center.  A Master Composter Class is also offered and provides practical and in-depth information about backyard composting techniques and bins and institutional and municipal composting techniques and issues. The purpose of the class is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills so that they can teach others the basics of backyard composting and be informed about composting possibilities in the community.
