Keith Loiseau is an architect in the Campus Planning and Construction department. Keith is diligent about turning the light off in his office when he leaves, even if only for a few minutes. In fact, Keith's office lights are seldom on in the first place because he usually takes advantage of the light coming from the window in his office. Sustainability advocates call this concept daylight harvesting. It saves the electricity used by artificial lighting when daylight is available, which also saves money, reduces pollution, and saves resources. As Keith says, "I enjoy the daylight more than the overhead lights or a desk lamp, plus it is free, available, and natural. I am lucky enough to have a window in my office, so why not use it?"
