Electronics Recycling Event a Huge Success
The Vanderbilt-sponsored Electronics Recycling Event filled 25 tractor trailers with electronics for recycling, with more than 1,000 people dropping off items during the community recycling event.

Brief Overview of Vanderbilt Academic Activities Related to Sustainability
As a top-20 center for scholarly research, almost every school within Vanderbilt University is conducting research that has the potential to inform and improve our common future. Additionally, Vanderbilt faculty have a number of on-going educational initiatives underway. A few spotlighted efforts from the past year are:
- Bringing traditional environmental speakers to campus such as William McDonough and Helen Caldicott.
- Linking social responsbility and sustainability to corporate behavior with speakers such as Home Depot co-founder, Bernie Marcus.
- Launch of the GreenBox suggestion website.
- A recent forum on Religion and the Environment sponsored by the Center for Ecology and Spirituality.
- A large number of environmentally-focused degree programs and classes.
- A nanotechnology environmental management workshop hosted by the Vanderbilt Center for Environmental Management Studies and the Environmental Law Institute.
