Climate Connections: Bridging the Gap Between Students and Sustainability

Posted by on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Events, News.

Join SPEAR and VSG on Thursday, March 20, from 5-7 PM in Sarratt Cinema for an inspiring and informative discussion of the intersection of the environment with society. Through two TED Talks and an open panel, how climate change is intertwined with nearly everything that influences daily life, including economics, entrepreneurship, policy, food, health, and faith, will be addressed.

TED Talk speakers include Param Jaggi, founder and CEO at EcoViate and 2012 & 2013 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and Dr. Jonathan Gilligan of Vanderbilt’s Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Additionally, environmental organizations from on and around campus will be tabling to help connect students to sustainable resources in Nashville.

There will also be an opening performance by the Vanderbilt BhangraDores, a speech by Vanderbilt’s own Dean Wcislo, and raffle prizes throughout, including Grins desserts baskets and Chipotle gift cards.

For more information, read SPEAR co-president, Michael Diamond’s opinion piece on Inside Vandy and check out the event on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/451959108270556/.
