The Sustainability and Environmental Management Office (SEMO) and Vanderbilt Athletics have teamed up to offer recycling at every Vanderbilt men’s and women’s home basketball game during the 2010-2011 season.

Each home basketball game can generate up to 150 bags of waste. Recycling all the plastic bottles and commemorative plastic cups generated during each game could reduce the trash from each game by one-quarter, which means 38 bags less trash headed to the landfill. With almost 40 men’s and women’s home games this season, including several tournaments, fans have the potential to help collect about 1,500 bags of recyclables.

Empty plastic bottles and commemorative plastic cups can be recycled in the large green bins located next to the trash cans on every level of the concourse in Memorial Gym.
