Vanderbilt Women’s Soccer

Purpose

The Vanderbilt Women’s Club Soccer team is a group of women who share a love of the game of soccer and want to dedicate time during their college career to excel in the sport.  The team was founded in the fall of 2002 and has enjoyed ten successful seasons.

In addition to being a lot of fun, Vandy Women’s Club Soccer is also a great opportunity for Vandy women to continue playing soccer at a competitive level. Almost all girls have played throughout high school and share the desire to continue playing competitively and staying in shape throughout their college years.  All undergraduates and graduates who have an interest in soccer are strongly encouraged to come out to our tryouts each fall, which are usually held in late August/early September, learn more about the team, and meet the returning players.

Practice/Competition

Practices  are held Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-7 pm and Sundays 7-9pm in both the Fall and the Spring seasons.

In our Fall Season, we play in a Regional League with teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.  League games are usually held every weekend (excluding weekends with home football games) with two to three weekends of traveling and several home games.  In addition, we typically travel to Clemson University for their SocctOberfest tournament in October. We won in our division this past fall season (2012), which we hope to continue doing in the coming years.

Each year before Thanksgiving, we take about 20-25 girls to play in the National Tournament, which has been held in Phoenix (2002-2011) and Memphis (2012).We look forward to going to the National Tournament every single year with the goal of having fun and winning a National Title.

In the Spring Season, there are usually two to three games with weekly practices starting in February. We encourage attending all practices but know school takes priority.  Game rosters and playing time is decided upon one’s practice level/intensity and skill.

Dues:

Due to our travel expenses and tournament fees, there are Fall/Spring dues.  Dues are set at the beginning of the season.  Payment plans/installments are negotiable.
