Climbing and Kayak Instructors

KAYAK INSTRUCTORS NEEDED for 2013-14 year:

Hours: Shifts are on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Duties:

-       Teach people the basics about a kayak and its equipment.
-       Teach people how to roll a kayak.
-       Work cooperatively with one other kayak instructor and up to 6 people per class.

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous whitewater kayaking experience
  • Previous instructional experience preferred.
  • Ability to talk in front of a group of people.
  • Must be safety-minded
  • Enthusiasm for kayaking

 

CLIMBING INSTRUCTORS NEEDED for 2013-14 year:

Hours:

-  Shifts are primarily Monday – Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and Friday from 4-6 pm.
-  Shifts are usually 2 hours each.

Duties: Teach people how to climb when requested, belay for people, set-up and take down the climbing wall equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous climbing experience.
  • Previous instructional experience preferred.
  • Ability to talk in front of a group of people.
  • Must be safety-minded
  • Enthusiasm for climbing
  • Must be an “approved climber” for the Vanderbilt Wall.  This requires a written and a practical test.

KAYAK and CLIMBING INSTRUCTORS:
