Have you started planning events for Fall 2013? If so, now is the time to start booking your space in the Student Life Center. In the coming weeks campus groups can begin to reserve space for the Fall 2013 semester. Beginning Monday, November 5, Student Organizations can begin reserving space by contacting the Student Life Center directly or Reservations & Events. Please note that you will not be able to reserve space through Virtual EMS until Monday, November 12. Campus Departments will be able to reserve space beginning Monday, November 12. Space can be reserved by contacting the Student Life Center, Reservations & Events, or through Virtual EMS. If you have questions about reserving space please contact the Student Life Center today at 343-0371 or Reservations & Events at 322-2448.

It is never too early to reserve space for your upcoming holiday party,and the Student Life Center is the perfect place. We have a variety of rooms available now for booking for the Nashville community and Vanderbilt departments. We can even spruce up your holiday event with creative and unique lighting packages to help transform the space. So book your holiday party today!

The annual Parents & Family Weekend is just around the corner! This year's event runs Friday, October 12th through Sunday, October 14th. Registration and check-in will be in the Student Life Center Board of Trust room from 10am-6pm on Friday, October 12th, and from 8:30am-12pm on Saturday, October 13th. Fall Break is here, and with students taking a break from classes, the Student Life Center will be operating on a different schedule. The special hours will begin on Thursday, October 4, and normal operating hours will resume on Sunday, October 7. The hours of operation over Fall Break will be as follows: Thursday, October 4 - 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 5 - 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday, October 6 - 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Vanderbilt Programming Board is going to fill your Friday night full of fun, food and prizes on September 28. Between 7pm and 11pm, the Student Life Center will be transformed into a carnival, including games like pedestal jousting, skeeball, pinball, arcade games, wac-a-mole, and much more. What would a carnival be without food? VPB has that covered, with cotton candy, funnel cakes, snow cones, pizza, popcorn, nachos and McDougal's.  There will also be prizes, including a Kindle Fire, Wii gaming console, and Commodore Quake tickets, just to name a few. As you get your final preparations ready for the Finance Industry Career Day, put on by the Center for Student Professional Development, please remember that the location of the event is the Multi-Purpose Room at the Commons Center . Normally these events are held in the Commodore Ballroom at the Student Life Center, but due to scheduling conflicts this event has been relocated to the Commons Center.

As the summer break draws to an end, the Student Life Center is gearing up for another great year! Beginning Saturday, August 18, the SLC will be resuming regular operating hours. For event planners, if you have not reserved space for the Fall yet, now is the time as space is running out. Contact Reservations & Events or the SLC today to reserve space. Remember to check the Student Centers Event Calendar to keep track of all the events happening in the SLC and throughout the Student Centers.

In recognition of Independence Day, Sarratt Student Center and the Student Life Center will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th. Both facilities will re-open on July 5th with regular operating hours. Have a safe and happy holiday!

In recognition of Memorial Day, the Student Centers will be closed Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28. All offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 29 with normal summer operation hours. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

Now that the class of 2012 has graduated and moved on, and most students are taking a break for the summer, the Student Life Center will work on reduced hours. However, do not let the hours fool you, the SLC is still operating and available for your events! The Student Life Center is available all summer long for events, including banquets, weddings, and conferences.  Please contact the SLC today for availability.
