Film screenings are popular events on campus, but did you know that a Public Performance Rights License must be obtained anytime a film is shown outside a person’s personal home? The Public Performance Rights are the legal rights held by distributors or producers and temporary permission can be granted to show the film by selling them a Public Performance License. It does not matter if admission is charged or if the group screening the film is a non-profit organization, school, or library. If the film is being shown outside the home, it is considered “public”.

The final phase of the Sarratt and Rand project includes several spaces and meeting rooms that you should be aware of. The spaces listed below will be complete and available beginning Monday October 8th. You can begin reserving these spaces on Monday September 10th by contacting Reservations and Events.
Here are some of the specifics for each of the spaces that will be available.
The Rand Lounge (formerly the 1st floor of the bookstore) is designed for special events and performances for up to 350 people. The space is equipped with two large screens and projectors along with 4 televisions. Event set ups are flexible and it is best to contact the Reservations office for more information. This space will also relieve the lunch time rush in the facility by providing additional dining and seating options.
The Rand Skylight and Rand Connector are great spaces for receptions for approximately 100 people. The Rand connector is located at the top of the new staircase from the main floor of Rand Dining Center. The Rand Skylight is located in the former second floor of the bookstore outside of the Anchor (student organization space).
Three new conference rooms will be available. Each of these rooms are equipped with a built in LCD TV and have a fixed conference table to seat 14.
Rand 308 is a flexible meeting and event space ideal for a speaker or larger meeting. The capacity will be 48 classroom, 28 conference and 98 theatre style. Beginning Spring 2013, classes will be held in this space daily, but the space will be available for evening and weekend activities. This space is equipped with an LCD projector/screen and lectern. Standing reservations will not be approved in this space.
Please contact the Reservations and Events office to make your requests and for more information.

Did you know that if you are planning an outdoor event, large-scale event or an event with alcohol that you must gain approval from the Special Event Registration Committee prior to holding your event?
The committee consists of representative(s) from Reservations and Events, Traffic and Parking, Vanderbilt University Police Department, Plant Operations, Health and Wellness, and a designee of the Dean of Students. The committee meets Wednesday, 2:30pm-3:30pm in Sarratt 114.
Reservations and Events can assist students with special event planning and ask that students discuss their events with the Registration and Events staff when making reservations, and that students be prepared to present their need for resources at the Special Event Registration Committee meeting.
For more information regarding this process, please contact our office directly or view this link: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/studentcenters/reservations-events/meet/special-event-registration
