Hannah Blatt - Women's Tennis
Junior, Major: Human and Organizational Development

Why did you choose to attend Vanderbilt?
I chose Vanderbilt because of the combination of academics, athletics, and the fact that Vanderbilt's located in a great city.

What are your career goals?
After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school.

What does it take to be academically successful at Vanderbilt?
Being conscientious by preparing, being organized, and allowing yourself sufficient time to get assignments done.

How do you manage your demanding schedule?
Keep a planner with what needs to be done, and try not to deviate by doing things that are unnecessary.

What is your ritual before taking a test?
Study the night before a test by writing the answers over and over again. I then get up early in the morning, go through each question, and rewrite every answer again.

Why Hannah is a Student-Athlete of the Month . . .
Hannah has made tremendous academic and athletic progress over the past three years.  Recently, she was named to the Dean’s List and SEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of her performance and achievement in the classroom.  Coach MacDonald continues to praise Hannah for her work ethic, perseverance and continued improvement.  She drastically improved her individual record by winning several matches in fall tournaments and as a result, has emerged as a key contributor to the team’s success.  I wish Hannah all the best in her future endeavors. -Shawn Fagan

Myron Lewis - Football

Junior, Major: Human and Organizational Development

Why did you choose to attend Vanderbilt?
After all of my college research and visits, I chose Vanderbilt because it was a place close to home and being in such an outstanding atmosphere, it felt like the right decision.  Also, being able to play in one of the best football conferences in the nation.  The main reasons which caught my attention were how remarkable the academics and sports were. Vanderbilt is such a well rounded school full of potential and different accolades, which will put me in the position to be successful.

What are your career goals?
I would love to pursue my football career or be able to work for myself and accumulate a lot of money.

What does it take to be academically successful at Vanderbilt?
Knowing how to manage school work and leisure time. Also, avoiding procrastination is key to being academically sound.

How do you manage your demanding schedule?
I am a guy who usually goes with the flow, but at this level scheduling and writing down important times and dates are very imperative in order to get things done.

What is your ritual before taking a test?
I usually read over my notes before class and listen to a little Barry Manilow!!!

What are your favorite quotes?
“Success comes from those who believe in you.” –Anonymous

“Learning is an active process. We learn by doing... Only knowledge that is used sticks in your mind.” -Dale Carnegie

Why Myron is a Student-Athlete of the Month . . .
It has been my pleasure getting to know Myron over the course of his three years here, and watching him develop in the classroom and on the field.  He has become a leader in both areas.  He was most recently named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for his academic achievements.  In addition, he will be able to graduate early, in December 2009, and hopes to pursue a career in the NFL.  He has also steadily improved on the football field: His late, great interceptions in both the Auburn and Music City Bowl games sealed Vanderbilt's victories.  I will miss Myron when he leaves - particularly his sense of humor - and hope to keep up with him in the years to come. -Elizabeth Wright
