Shan Foster - Men's BasketballSophomore, Major: Human and Organizational Development
I chose to attend Vanderbilt because of the loving and caring environment which the Vanderbilt community works hard to exhibit. The fans are loyal and I felt the coaching staff really cared about my success off the court as well as on the court. What are your career goals? To make it to the NBA and/or become an accomplished social worker/musician. What does it take to be academically successful at Vanderbilt? It takes time management skills beyond compare. One must be able to get a lot of useful work done in a short amount of time. There must also be a balance between work and play. How do you manage your demanding schedule? I try to get most of my work done during study hall or shortly after, allowing me time to be social and hang out with teammates and friends. Mapping out my schedule daily proved to be of great assistance to me as well. What is your ritual before taking a test? Eat and say a prayer. What is your favorite quote? "If you're gonna pray, don't worry. If you're gonna worry, don't pray."
