VUSHC is staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health providers and a lab technician.
Our nurse practitioners are advanced-degree providers who have many years of experience meeting the health care needs of university students. Nurse practitioners are able to write prescriptions and provide care under physician supervision.
Our physicians are each board-certified in their specialty, are clinical faculty at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and work closely with the nurse practitioners to provide care for our patients here at VUSHC.

Physicians
Louise Hanson, MD
Director, Student Health Center
Internal Medicine
Office Hours: M-Th, Fri AM
Dr. Hanson completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and then came to Vanderbilt University for medical school, residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine. After several years in private practice in Nashville, she then moved to the Student Health Center in 1998, and became the medical director in July 2007. As an internist, her main clinical interests include asthma and allergies, hypertension, and management of other chronic health conditions. Dr. Hanson is married with two young children. Outside of work she enjoys playing and watching sports.
Mark Jacokes, MDInternal Medicine
Office Hours: Tuesday 12:30-4:30 p.m. & all day Wednesday and Friday
Dr. Jacokes received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital. He joined the Student Health Center in 2001. He also works at the Vanderbilt Dayani Center. He is married with one son.
Susan Wodicka, MD
Internal Medicine
Office Hours: Monday and Tuesday
Dr. Wodicka received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Vanderbilt University. She recently retired from the Tennessee Valley Health Care system. She has worked at the SHC since 2008.
Jonna Whitman, MDFamily Practice, Chief of Clinical Services
Office Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Dr. Whitman received her undergraduate degree from Williams College which included a junior year study abroad at Oxford University. She received her medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine. She was co-chief resident during her family medicine residency at the University of Michigan. She has worked at the SHC since 2005. She is married with two children.
Megan Gaffney Bowles, MDInternal Medicine

Dr. Bowles received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University. She completed her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center where she was also chief resident. She has worked at the SHC since 2007. She is married and has two sons.

Paula Nunn, MD

Paula S. Nunn, MD graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School. She completed the Psychiatry Residency Program and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Vanderbilt. Dr. Nunn is board certified in both Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has worked at the SHC since 2007.
Brad Williams, MDPsychiatry

Dr. Williams received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Mississippi. In between degrees, he spent time in the Peace Corps in North Africa. He completed his psychiatric residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He has worked at the SHC since 1988. He is married and has a daughter and two sons.
Kristina Wilson, MD Sports Medicine

Dr. Wilson is a fellow in the Department of Sports Medicine. She has worked with the SHC since 2009.

Harvey Bennett, APN-BC

Mr. Bennett received an industrial engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. He then served as an active duty officer in the U.S. Navy. He received his nursing degree from the University of Tennessee-Nashville. He received his MSN from Vanderbilt. He is married with three daughters. He has worked at the SHC since 1984.
Kathy Jantz, APN-BCFamily Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Jantz received her RN diploma from Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She received her undergraduate degree from Villanova University and her MSN from Indiana University. She has worked at the SHC since 1991. She has a son and daughter.

Mrs. Presley received her BSN from Niagara University. She received her MSN from University of Rochester. Mrs. Presley has also 18 years of experience from the student health centers of University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology and Middle Tennessee State University. She has worked at the SHC since 2007. She is married and has two sons.

Jane Dale, LPN
Staff Nurse
Mrs. Dale is one of the nurses who checks in students before they see a provider. She is married and the mother and grandmother of two. She has worked at the SHC since 2002.
Vicki Golden, LPNStaff Nurse
Ms. Golden is in charge of allergy shots given to the students. She also is a check in nurse in the walk in clinic. She is a mother of a son and daughter. She has worked at the SHC since 1997.
You will see Vicki in the injection clinic and walk-in area of the clinic. She has been an LPN since 1978 and has completed classes at MTSU with an emphasis in Health Education. Vicki has a daughter and a son and loves to spend time with her 3 grandchildren. She also attends church, loves to travel, and has interest in Art history and geneology.
Lee Ann Mack, LPNStaff Nurse
Mrs. Mack is one of the nurses who checks in students before they see a provider. She is married and the mother of three boys. She has worked at the SHC since 1993.
Penny Meek, BA, LPNStaff Nurse
Ms. Meek received her Bachelor’s from Trevecca Nazerene University in Nashville. She is in charge of immunizations and is the nurse for Drs. Hanson and Whitman. Penny enjoys gardening and does mission work near and far. She also loves children. She has a son. Penny has been at the SHC since 2000.
Laura Wilson, MLT, ASCP
Laboratory Technician
Mrs. Wilson is in charge of the lab services performed at the SHC. She is also working on her medical coding certificate. She is married and the mother of a son and daughter. She has worked at the SHC since 2002.
Alcohol and Drug Counseling
Dorothy Gager, M.Div., LCSW
Office Hours: Full Time
Ms. Gager is in charge of the Alcohol and Drug services at the SHC. She works closely with the Psychological and Counseling Center, Housing, and Judicial Affairs. Ms. Gager received her undergraduate degree from University of Chattanooga. She received her Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee College of Social Work. She received her Master’s of Divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School. She and her partner have a son and daughter. She has worked at the SHC since 2007.

Janell Pendergrass

Janell is a clinical dietician in the Nutrition Services Department of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She works part-time with the SHC during the school year.
She has worked with the SHC since 2000.

Jennifer Swails-Wenger
Administrative Director
Jen graduated from Cornell College with degrees in political science, German and biology. She completed her graduate work at the University of Iowa in preventive medicine and environmental health with an emphasis in epidemiology. She is president of the Southern College Health Association. She has worked at the SHC since 2001.
Rose HearnAdministrative Assistant to Directors
Rose is in charge of reimbursements, disbursements and deposits of the SHC. She is married and has one son. She has worked at the SHC since 1995.
Marti YoungFront Office Supervisor, AA
Mrs. Young is in charge of the administrative office. She attended the University of Montevallo. She is married and the mother of six children. In addition to working for Vanderbilt, she is also the Drama Director for Youth at her church. She loves the outdoors. She has worked at the SHC since 2007.
Ann EubankMental Health Office Assistant, Mental Health Division
Ms. Eubank is often the first person you will speak with when you contact the SHC mental health services. She is the assistant to the mental health providers. Ms. Eubank has a son. She has worked at the SHC since 2007.

Insurance Clerk
Mrs. Spurlock is the insurance liaison in coordination with the Gallagher Koster student health insurance. She is the person to contact on campus if you have student health insurance questions. She is married and has two sons. She has worked at the SHC since 2006.
Vijay PandyaCustodial Worker / Transport
Mr. Pandya is responsible for errands in our clinic. He is often the person who transports students to the medical center for the emergency room, x-rays, etc. He is a native of India. He is married and has two children. He has worked at the SHC since 1996.
