Laboratory Services
The lab at Student Health is equipped to perform multiple common lab tests. These include: strep test, mono spot, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, and HIV. In most cases, these results will be available at the time of your visit. We also have a few specific laboratory tests that are available to the student ”at cost.” The cost of these tests is due at the time the specimen is obtained.
If during your visit to Student Health it is determined that you need to have off site laboratory testing performed, the needed specimen (i.e. blood, urine, etc) will be collected at the Student Health Center by our lab technician and sent for testing at the Vanderbilt Medical Center Lab. The charges for these tests will be billed to the student’s health insurance by Vanderbilt Medical Center. Any remaining balance is the responsibility of the student. The Student Health Center is not involved in this billing process.
On Site Dispensary
The Student Health Center stocks a number of commonly used medications that our providers prescribe. These are provided to students “at cost.” We purchase these items in bulk resulting in reduced cost and therefore are able to pass these savings on to our students. Our dispensary is not a pharmacy and therefore we cannot fill prescriptions written by providers outside the Student Health Center
