The Student Health Center operates primarily on an appointment system, so appointments are always recommended and encouraged. However, in order to assure that all urgent matters can be handled on a same-day basis, the SHC also staffs a Walk-In Clinic on-site. This clinic is staffed on a rotating basis by nurse practitioners and physicians. Similar to an Emergency Room, the waits tend to be longer, as patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis after being assessed by a nurse for seriousness of illness. Patients with serious illness or injuries will always be triaged to the front of the line.
