Vanderbilt students registered in degree programs for four or more credit hours are required to have accident/sickness insurance coverage. This coverage must be in the form of one of the following options:

• Family or parent's policy
• Individual, private, or group policy
• Policy offered by Vanderbilt through the Gallagher Koster Insurance Agency, Inc.

The third option is a policy offered by the Gallagher Koster Insurance Agency, Inc. and is sponsored by the University.

Premium Rates
Premium rates will be as follows:

After the August 1st deadline, the insurance petition to waive forms must be submitted.

A student who does not wish to subscribe to the student injury/sickness insurance plan offered through the University must notify Gallagher Koster Insurance through their online waiver process of coverage acceptable to the University under another policy. Waiver of the student insurance plan does not affect eligibility for services at the Student Health Center. New students must complete the online waiver process. The insurance charge will not be waived if the online process is not completed by August 1 for the fall semester, and January 5 for students who are newly enrolled for the spring semester. The waiver process will remain in effect each academic year unless an acceptance card is completed and received prior to August 1 by the Office of Student Accounts. Online waivers will be available December 1 thru January 5 for new students enrolling in the spring.

All incoming freshman, returning sophmores and juniors must complete an online waiver form at the beginning of each academic year.

If you previously waived the health insurance coverage and wish to obtain the coverage, please return the petition to add form to the Office of Student Accounts.

The University sponsored health plan premium will be automatically billed to those students registered in degree programs for four or more credit hours unless the plan is waived prior to August 1, 2008 (fall semester) and January 5, 2009 for new students only in the spring semester.
