2007 Football Student Tailgating Policies
1. ALCOHOL
NO LIQUOR WILL BE ALLOWED - ONLY BEER. University alcohol policies and guidelines will be enforced in the tailgating lots. The use of common containers of alcoholic beverages such as kegs, punch bowls, or party balls by undergraduates, the use of pure grain alcohol by individuals or organizations, the use of devices such as funnels and beer bongs designed for the rapid consumption of alcohol, and drinking games are prohibited. ACTION WILL BE TAKEN BY THE VANDERBILT POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR VIOLATION OF THESE POLICIES.
2. NO GLASS CONTAINERS
For safety considerations, we ask that all tailgaters use cans and/or cups only. NO GLASS PLEASE!
3. PARKING
Access to the student tailgating area will be from Vanderbilt Place. The parking lot will open four hours prior to the announced game time. Student parking is permitted for vehicles with valid Vanderbilt parking permits. Cars must be parked in designated parking spaces, i.e., no circling of vehicles, etc.
4. ATTEND THE GAME
The purpose of the student tailgate area is to create energy and excitement for the game; therefore, students are asked to cease all tailgating activity before the start of the game. Please show respect for your Commodore athletes and athletic staff by attending the game. The parking lots will be cleared by VPD police officers beginning ten minutes prior to kick-off. This practice enables the limited game-day operations, security, and medical staffs to turn their attention to those inside the stadium and is implemented for the safety of all those attending the game. There will be no post-game tailgating. Thank you for your cooperation.
5. BEHAVIOR
Please be respectful of other tailgaters around you; remember that the student tailgaiting area and Vanderbilt Stadium are University property, and that all students are subject to the Vanderbilt University Student Conduct Code and applicable laws. We rely on you, as proud Commodores, not only to comply with these policies but to help enforce them as well.
6. MUSIC (AMPLIFIED)
Music must be confined to your tailgate area and speakers must be directed into your tailgate party. All music must be turned off ten minutes before the kickoff time.
7. GRILLS
Propane/gas grills are preferred. However, we ask that propane tanks be limited to the 5-10 gallon size. Charcoal grills may also be used. Charcoal and ash must be disposed of properly.
8. TRASH DISPOSAL
All tailgate parties are responsible for disposing of their trash in appropriate receptacles. Please make a point to clean up your areas regularly throughout the duration of the event.
In case of emergency, please call the VPD at 615.322.2745 or dial 911.
