Mission
The Office of the Dean of Students serves a central role in engaging and supporting students in outside of the classroom learning. The DOS co-curricular opportunities are intentionally designed for the purpose of enhancing course–related learning, connecting knowledge and theory to practice, and fostering personal and professional development.
Definition
Co-curricular learning is formal and informal learning that occurs outside of the classroom. Two critical characteristics that distinguish co-curricular learning from other forms of extra-curricular engagement and participation are the:
- Intentional connection to learning outcomes and personal and professional development, and
- The integration of a self-reflective learning process that considers the holistic nature of growth and development
