FAQ

What is the Senior Class Fund?

The Senior Class Fund is a tribute from the Class of 2009—a gift from seniors to Vanderbilt. And it’s a personal gift, because you can direct your support to any school, program or organization that mattered to you during your time at Vanderbilt.

Why should I give?

The generosity of those who’ve experienced Vanderbilt firsthand is a vital part of what makes this a great university. Many of your experiences during the past four years were possible because other classes, alumni of all ages, parents and friends have made gifts of all sizes to Vanderbilt. The gift you make as a senior this year—and as an alum next year and in years to come—help make it possible for future students to share in the same experiences you had.

What if I can only give a little?

That’s OK! Your participation is what matters most. And every gift counts—remember, lots of small gifts add up to make a big difference. If you’re looking for a suggested gift amount, $20.09 is a fun way to commemorate your graduation.

What counts toward the Senior Class Fund?

Any gift made by a senior or by senior parents in honor of a graduating student counts toward the Senior Class Fund.

What is the Senior Challenge?

Your participation is one of the Senior Class Fund goals. To encourage participation and multiply the power of our gifts, Mr. and Mrs. James C. Bradford Jr. have issued the Senior Challenge. Mrs. Bradford is an alumna from the Class of 1963.

When we reach 25 percent participation, these generous supporters will donate a tree, which will be planted on campus honor of the Class of 2009—a permanent reminder of our efforts. The more we participate, the more the Bradfords will contribute toward undergraduate scholarships—up to $100,000! The total amount depends entirely on the Class of 2009’s participation.

Where does my gift go? Can I direct my gift to a particular area of Vanderbilt?

Quite simply, your gift goes wherever you’d like. You can designate your gift to almost any area of Vanderbilt, so consider allocating your gift to what has meant the most to you.

How do I make a gift?

You can make your gift online. If you want to give over the phone, please call 615/322-7252. Or you can ask a Senior Class Fund Committee member for a gift form that you can mail. For questions, e-mail
